The Secret Garden Wine Bar & Restaurant is situated at Buzzards Hall, 17 Friars Street in this wonderful Grade 2* listed premises; one of the oldest building of Sudbury.

The wine bar & restaurant will open as usual thoughout the end of the year festivities with a special Christmas lunch on Sunday 24th December and an outstanding food & wine matching New Year’s Eve menu on Sunday eve 31st December 2017.

The Wine Bar is opened to everyone and a large selection of wines by the glass as well as beers and cocktails are available. While enjoying a drink, you will also be able to order some of our fine nibbles such as home roasted nuts, our selection of cured hams and charcuteries and have access to the amazing selection of artisan cheeses from our trolley.

Our wine list offers a wide selection of wines made from different grapes and covering many regions. These wines have been carefully selected (and tasted before being listed!) to offer very good quality nectars made from passionate, often individual producers.

Alex Charles - Original Pictures


Alex lives and works in a little thatched house in the bottom left hand corner of Suffolk and yes it is very nice although he'd much prefer if it was in the bottom left hand corner of France, because French cars and France are his passion.

“As a poor young man I bought my first Citroën for the same price as a tank of fuel and together with two friends we took the sunny and very slow road (slowly) to the wonderful south of France where we starved amidst the beauty. I was hooked forever. My second Citroën cost two hundred pounds, a pair of shoes and an old suit, I was going up in the world!”

Alex has worked in publishing as art director and as a photographer and teacher. His favourite French graphic artist is Hervé Morvan, which Alex based the two Secret Garden posters upon.You can view his current work at
